Barriers for Adopting Electronic Health Records (Ehrs) by Physicians Essay Example for Free
Barriers for Adopting Electronic Health Records (Ehrs) by Physicians Essay Barriers for Adopting Electronic Health Records (EHRs) by Physicians Introduction In the article, ââ¬Å"Barriers for Adopting Electronic Health Records (EHRs) by Physicians,â⬠researchers analyze the resistance associated with adoption of EHR systems by U.S. physicians. Current research supports the notion that electronic health records are not vastly supported in the U.S., especially in comparison to other countries. According to researchers at the Weill Cornell Medical College, ââ¬Å"Doctors who go digital do appear to provide significantly better health careâ⬠(Nordqvist, 2012). While there are many productivity concerns around implementing a new system, this article explains why physicians are resistant to the adoption of EHRs and how those oppositions can affect the system. Analysis of Key Issues In 2012 approximately 72 percent of office-based physicians had adopted any HER system and 40 percent had adopted basic EHR systems (King, Patel, Furukawa, 2012). While there are a myriad of issues associated with the adoption of EHRs nationwide, some of the most prevalent are miscommunication, misinformation and misinterpretation. Physicians are apprehensive about the level error that could prevail with using EHRs. Joseph Conn found that, ââ¬Å"an alarming number of clinicians are anecdotally reporting a substantial increase in the incidence of wrong order/wrong patient errors wile using the computerized physician order entry component of information systemsâ⬠(2013). Clearly physician resistance to EHRs is directly related to the safety of patients as an increased predisposition for error is being revealed. Conversely, EHRs can be equally superior as they can also contribute more accuracy to the healthcare infrastructure. The Missouri Health Connection shared that EHRs can pr ovide health records universally, ââ¬Å"improving the coordination and continuity of care and promoting informed decision makingâ⬠amongst many other things (n.d.). Findings Based on the results from the study there are 20 reasons that physicians are resistant to the adoption of EHRs; stemming from cost to doctor-patient relationship. With all the viable concerns that physicians have, theyà remain resistant and the acceptance rate is still low. Personal Assessment The evolution of EHRs and its impact on Obamacare and the overall healthcare system is pioneering. Obamacare is based on the perception that health care in the U.S. is more expensive than any other industrial nation because the incentive configuration is inadequate. Ideally, the government would like for Medicaid and Medicare patients to be consistently healthy and otherwise reimburse the physicians for keeping them healthy. However, for this to work the government needs instant access to patient records. With this access the government can eliminate reimbursement solely on test and procedures but incentivize for health results. While EHRs are beneficial for physicians they are equally beneficial for patients. The ability to walk into any healthcare facility and the physician have access to your medical history is substantial. As it relates to someone with health complications, this can minimize the risk of misdiagnosis or allergic reaction. Deuteronomy 15: 7-8 says, ââ¬Å"If there be among you a poor man of one of thy bretheren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother: But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wantethâ⬠(KJV). As Obamacare seems to favor those who are less fortunate or helps those who need healthcare, there is a need to support this agenda. No one should go without health insurance and there are an alarming number of citizens without it today. References Conn, J. (2013). HER systems pose serious concerns, reports says. The traditional sense of the hedge is a kind of behavior or strategy aimed at reducing the risk of. Hedging often takes the form of a transaction in a market or assets, to hedge risk, another market or assets of a company for example, buy a foreign exchange option risk to its business to hedge the spot exchange rate fluctuations. Fund of hedge funds is to give the basic idea to obtain high profits through the use of various financial derivatives of the private equity fund. Hedge funds through the shortselling and leverage operations, in the market with less capital will have the probability to obtain high returns. Several well-known Tremont Group Holdings Inc have a combined annual income of up to 40% to 50% of the rate. But it is worth mentioning that the hedge fund investment strategy is a high risk investment, hedge funds may bring high return but also bring inestimable loss to hedge funds. The largest hedge funds could not change unpredictably in the financial market in an invincible position forever. The Tiger Fund in the cause of the peak appeared unable to get up after a fall position error, in this paper, will discuss the potential risk and the mode of operation of the hedge fund. Literature Review In the The future of hedge fund investing, the author based on the situation of Australian hedge fund manager for the acceptance of new products as well as the survey of Australian hedge fund market, expressed on the future development of hedge funds. The author is a direct expression of the hedge fund will become one of the main mode of future development, but the future rate of return will tend to rational. Hedge funds can provide very good nontraditional investment projects and investment philosophy, thus breaking the traditional sense of the financial system of the absolute, such as stock and futures market. Investors must not simply from the stock rise in profits or profit from the good development of economy, but also can benefit from the various possibilities by hedge funds. This model to overthrow the traditional investment concept. The ability to hedge funds over risk-free money market assets is easy to verify comparable hedge fund performance and the main stock index reveals mixed results. Hedge fund should consider contains only they can provide diversification benefits not drag the whole income portfolio rate in the diversified portfolio. Hedge funds have been trying to move beyond monetary market agents, suggesting that, on average, investors should be better in the currency market investment. Australian investors, from the bank bill yields than hedge fund returns do not bear any risk in this period. (Ali, 2004). In the Hedge fund reporting challenged, the author suggested to hedge funds, one of the main potential risks. Hedge fund investors in understanding the initial investment hedge fund manager, whether this distribution have a positive return or not interested. In the past the investment rate of return information that is of particular interest, is the prospect of information in the profit or loss of the future. Hedge fund report can be a tense relationship between investors and hedge funds origin. The report is the main concern for investors data prior to disclosure the past rate of return on investment, but investors rarely take the initiative to care about the obtained before changes in the objective market high returns and the international financial system environment. This is the number of big hedge fund in successive years of high returns, one of the potential risk of sudden trouble. When investors and hedge fund managers at the same time the face of this report, the mentality is different each other. Investors want to obtain information from the hedge fund report, see the foundation in the future may be and the same as before to obtain a high rate of return on investment, while for the hedge fund managers, they would prefer to adopt a perfect report to obtain higher investment amount, and then through the financial derivatives to move more high leverage to demand higher interest. (Schrà ¶der, (2009)) In the article the Banking Financial Services Policy Report, the author points out a series of questions of hedge funds since the. This article uses a lot of data to illustrate the operation mode of hedge fund will make these funds will eventually go blind profit and ignore the regulation of the abyss. In this paper, the author will provide potential agency problems associated with the management of the hedge fund, the relevant reasons to increase or decrease in the regulation of hedge funds, and discuss the international differences in the regulation of hedge funds. At the same time, the author also points out the necessity and possibility of the development of hedge funds to do supervision and the future development in this trend. This paper points out that the Agency Problems in Hedge Fund Managementà ¯Ã ¼Ã
âPotential Conflicts Arising from Investor Baseà ¯Ã ¼Ã
âPotential Conflicts Arising from Fees and Proprietary Investment by Hedge Fund Managersà ¯Ã ¼Ã
âPotential Conflicts Arising from Lack of Regulatory Oversight Potential Conflicts Arising from Lack of Transparency, Potential Conflicts Arising from Lack of Transparency, Liquidity, Independent Valuation, and Pricingà ¯Ã ¼Ã
âPotential Conflicts Arising from Strategies and Leverage and International Differences in Hedge Fund Regulation are the major problems of hedge fund. The author cites a large number of problems in depth later, found the cause of the problem, and put forward a relative dialectical argument in the solution to the problem cause, is about the supervision of strict degree. The use of innovative investment strategies of hedge fund of hedge fund. On the one hand, to provide a variety of welfare hedge fund strategies these innovation, financial system involved, including the market liquidity and provide vital, limit price distortions and abnormal through arbitrage, and the tools and the risk of the market, because they can quickly change the portfolio. At the same time regulation can avoid more human or human operational errors based on the market tends to be more rational and restrained. However, people also hold clear opposing views concerning the draconian regulation, such as regulation is going to cause the market too friendly, hedge fund managers may face administrative regulation more trivial on trifles and unable to better respond to market changes, the hedge fund manager will relocate to more lax regulation of less jurisdiction. At the same time, for more regulation will involve taking self regulatory function from hedge fund participants, which may encourage the investment decision and risk management of relaxation. And finally the author puts forward the problem now is not how to regulate the industry, but where to draw the line in and excessive regulation. If it is assumed that all hedge fund manager to complete freedom to do what they do best, then any additional regulation would lose their favorable position in market failure in the market self adjustment ability, but it is easier to make the fund managers do not health more cross line led to the developm ent of the market, is not conducive to the long development. (Cumming, (2008).) In an annual report from Deutsche Bank, the hedge funds derivatives business has been affected by the financial tsunamis biggest business. Performance data of bad, caused the final quarter of the year in many hedge fund strategies 2008, investors Redemption requests boom. Deutsche Bank is one of those still in the market. Keep away from new business, it continues to thousands of products, so that the two grade market, has been in the restructuring of the damaged hedge fund positions are very active, and has developed a new hedge funds, exchange traded funds to investors liquidity. The bank also help clients to fund investment in hedge funds and funds. Deutsche bank restructuring process of more than $2000000000 of products for more than a year. In some cases, other dealers structure it help investors hedge fund products supplier credit risk or involved in the transaction. This structural adjustment as a means of coping with the crisis, operation method and the new popular form in more of the financial system. According to Deutsche Bank in a report, it is not difficult to see that the structural problems brought about by solving hedge fund existing products has become a main direction of major financial institutions, at the same time, the bank also gives a better solution is to avoid speculation concept, simple game on the existing basis, derivatives more market more transparent, provide financial tsunami hedge fund after a good operation platform. It is groundbreaking because, for the first time, investors can access a diversified pool of hedge funds, which is Ucits Illcompliant, transparent, over-collateralised and developed into a package that is as liquid as foreign exchange, says Farouze. Everybody is going to ask how we are providing intra-day liquidity and not taking big risks because the underlying managers are not liquid, but it is a fundamental misunderstanding that managers are illiquid. Deutsche Bank report a future development direction, but this is not the only direction. In fact, the financial system is with the development of science and technology and the process of globalization. While similar to the hedge fund this fund molding for just a few decades, and only in the last ten years of substantial growth, occupy a space for one person in financial institutions. It is not difficult to see, the future development is diversity, hedge fund concept will be with the development of financial system and complete change. This will later in the paper mentioned. (BANK, 2010) Research Questions In this report, will be around 2 main research. First, the operation mode and the hedging strategy of hedge fund. Second, hedge funds will face what risks and how to avoid these risks. Operation mode about hedge funds will choose more common and easily understood model analysis, through analysis, a direction to try to explain why hedge funds as institutional investors are willing to invest, and position fully understand why financial derivatives play in different market operation. About the risk hedge funds face, will be analyzed from different aspects, first of all will be based on several reasons the literature has been mentioned analysis will be between hedge fund managers and investors have problems and explore why hedge fund risk management must be very strict, and will use examples of why once large hedge fund be unable to get up after a fall in the market changes, exit the market stage, finally according to the international economic environment and puts forward some assumptions and analysis of hedge funds will be how to face these difficulties, and puts forward the solution or the method of risk aversion. the operation mode and the hedging strategy of hedge fund Hedge funds have a lot of investment strategy, the investment strategy, academic classification is roughly four, arbitrage, event driven, directional and global macro. And the four way investment, should be said that the four main thinking pattern, they can coexist also can invest strategy according to one or more of them adjustment. It is also a reflection of the hedge fund freely. In the paper, classification will be analyzed, and give examples. Arbitrage The basic idea is to arbitrage fund assets to buy shares, part of the assets of the short selling of shares. Multiple assets amount to buy stocks by the B coefficient (coefficient a measure of stock and market relevance) adjusted to form a long position, short asset amount of the short selling of stocks by the B coefficient adjustment after the formation of short positions, long positions and short positions of the difference between the formation of the assets of the fund market position. The market position for long, short or is zero, thereby regulating funds face market risk. When the market position to zero, long / short strategy to become the market neutral strategy, the fluctuation of return and market fund completely unrelated. Through adjusting the market positions, types or further adjustment of portfolio stock, can adjust the portfolio risk degree and the risk types. Hedge is a double-edged sword. When the fund market risk faced by hour, value-added potential of the fund ca n enjoy the stock market long-term upward trend has also reduced. In addition to hedge market risk, we can also be other risk funds to hedge funds, such as exchange rate risk, interest rate risk, the industry risk etc.. Whenever a risk is hedged, there is no possibility of fund managers use the risk factors for the fund value. In theory, a perfect hedge fund returns should be the risk-free rate minus the transaction cost. Therefore, in practice, the fund manager will not take all the risk factors for hedge funds, but their risk factors cannot grasp the hedged risk factors, leaving his grasp, make investment decisions in these risk factors to obtain excess returns. Stock index futures Stock index futures is not reasonable price the stock index futures market, at the same time to participate in the stock index futures and spot market transactions, or simultaneously in different period, different (but similar) category stock index contracts, to earn post behavior. Stock index futures arbitrage sub now hedge, hedging, hedging and cross city, cross species hedge. Commodity futures Similar to stock index futures, commodity futures also exists in the hedge strategy, to buy or sell a futures contract at the same time, selling or buying another contract related, and in a time of the two kinds of contracts. Transactions in the form it and hedging some similar, but hedging is to buy on the spot market (or sell) real goods, selling in the futures market at the same time (or buy) futures arbitrage; and only in the futures market sale and purchase agreement, does not involve the spot transaction. Commodity futures arbitrage are now hedge, hedging, cross market arbitrage and cross species arbitrage. Option hedging Option is also called the right to choose, is a kind of derivative financial instruments in the future on the basis of. From its essence, option is essentially in the financial sector to the rights and obligations of separate pricing, the right of the transferee within the specified time on whether to trade to exercise its rights and obligations must be fulfilled. In options trading, purchase option is termed the buyer, and the sale of options side is called the seller; the buyer is the right of the assignee, and the seller must fulfill the buyer to exercise the right obligation. Option has the advantages of unlimited income and risk of loss is limited, so in many cases, the option to replace the futures, short hedge trading, will risk arbitrage has smaller and higher rate of return than the futures.

Comparing Television and Internet Sports News Essay -- Comparison Comp
Comparing Television and Website News Television news is one of the best ways for people to know what is going on in the world today. With the momentum the World Wide Web has gained with in the last 6 years many television news station have also add a website to their media coverage. ESPN is no different; the station still has Sports Center where all the viewers can keep up with their favorite sport, but ESPN also has the website www.msn.espn.go.com where the viewer can get the same or even more information than in the television broadcast. Which is better? Why would a person choose one form of media over the other? It is not that one form is better than the other, it depends what the person wants to get out of that medium. The channel ESPN gives the viewer exactly what they expect, a quick overview of what happened in the sports world today. The announcers joke around to make the viewer feel like there is a human interaction that is taking place, the announcers also makes it feel like more of an entertainment program then a news program. The highlights that are shown are about the big events in sports like the Angels winning their first World Series. Other smaller sports almost go unnoticed. ESPN also likes to give the viewer a little bit of knowledge about the players of a particular game. Most of these interviews or stories are extremely short and really a viewer gains no real amount of knowledge. The viewer must sit back and hear what the producers of the show want them to hear. There is not a choice of whether the viewer watches highlights of baseball or gets the story about Sarah Hughes and how she injured her leg muscle. The website www.msn.espn.go.com gives viewers another look at a lot of the s ame stories as the ... ...rial in the way that they do. There are many reasons why people use the media or different medium to view the same media. Those reasons are the uses and gratification model provided by McQuail, Blumler, and Brown. People want to get a fulfillment after watching a show or in this case a sports broadcast. They wanted to achieve something like making sure there team is doing well or all the players are healthy. In case of ESPN there are two ways to view this information. The viewer can either watch the broadcast and be entertained by the broadcasters and see the plays. Or the viewer can take the more direct route by going to www.msn.espn.go.com and getting the exact same information only with more detailed. Either way the viewer is accomplishing something it could be bonding with a child, conversing with co-workers, or just being aware of the sports world around them.

tellectual Life of the Painters of the Early Renaissance :: History
Intellectual Life of the Painters of the Early Renaissance Before attempting to answer the question it is important to consider what we mean by ââ¬Ëearly Italian Renaissance. Unlike many periods in history the Renaissance has no obvious start and end dates, for the purposes of this assignment I will define the approximate period within which to look as about 1390 to about 1520. 1390 represents the time when the Carrara court in Padua was gaining an intellectual reputation of excellence, as well as this being about the time that two Roman coin like medals were cast of Francesco II and his father. This represents a typically renaissance trait of looking to antiquities for inspiration, as will be discussed later. The time around 1520 represents when Raphael died this was followed closely by the death of Pope Leo X, the second High Renaissance pope. It is after their deaths that the creative and optimistic mood in Italy began to fade. The decade ending 1520 saw Leonardo da Vinci leaving for France and then dieing there in 1519. There are many other examples that could confirm these dates as significant, and also many more that would dispute them, but for the purposes of simplicity we will take these as a guide. In the beginnings of the Renaissance painting was seen very much as a craft performed by members of the artisan class and not a ââ¬Ëliberal artââ¬â¢. In fact the term artist was not used, as it is today, as a general term meaning painter and sculptor. ââ¬ËArtistaââ¬â¢ was a term already in use by Dante, but it was used in reference to a University level graduate of the ââ¬Ëliberal artsââ¬â¢, it is not until the beginning of the sixteenth century that it is used in a context resembling today's usage. The lower status of painting at the beginning of the Renaissance is reflected in the fact that members of the aristocracy or learned class did not generally practice it. A member of the Milanese aristocracy, Giovanni Antonio Boltraffioââ¬â¢s epitaph stressed that although he was a painter, he was an amateur, because if it were thought that he made his living from painting it would significantly lower his social status. It is for this reason that few people in the early Renaissance would see painting as a method of social advancement or to demonstrate intellectual ability. This did not however stop many

Good Will Hunting Essay
Sometimes our past can cause pain that doesnââ¬â¢t allow us to trust others. People we trust can cause us to put up a wall and look to other things for comfort. In the movie, Will Hunting found his comfort in books. Will Hunting needed a real friendship to help him open up his mind in order to discover that there is more to life than living through the books he reads. In the movie, there are four main characters, each different in many ways, that form individual friendships in the movie. One of the characters, Will Hunting works as a janitor at a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is a foster child and is living life through his experience in books and lacks real life knowledge. This is holding him back from becoming intimate with anyone. While working there he sometimes writes on the schoolââ¬â¢s math department blackboard and is soon discovered as a genius. Will gets caught fighting and is arrested and in leau of incarceration is put under the supervision of Gera ld Lambeau, who attended and is now a professor at MIT. Under his supervision, per court order he must see a therapist and stay out of any trouble. Sean Maguire is a professor at a local community college and also grew up in the same town as Will and went to MIT. He is Willââ¬â¢s therapist and in the sessions challenges him to open up and stop living life through a book. A friendship develops and Sean tries to guide him to break his fear of intimacy. Chuckie Sullivan is a character in the movie that Will refers to as his brother. Chuckie is a nice guy with an aggressive attitude from being brought up in the rough side of Southie, Boston. Then there is a girl named Skylar, cute with a British accent and goes to Harvard University. She gets involved with Will Hunting and soon asks him to move with her to California where she will be attending at Stanfordââ¬â¢s medical school program. Unfortunately, fear of intimacy prevents him from forming a relationship with her and breaks this friendship apart. Eventually, Will starts to see his true friendships with Chuckie, Sean and Skylar and starts to open up. He begins to trust others and takes a risk at experiencing life first hand outside the covers of a book. Will Hunting came from poverty, raised as a foster child in Southie. He didnââ¬â¢t trust people because he always looked at every angle of the relationship and assumed that in the end they wouldnââ¬â¢t be there for him. Professor Gerald Lambeau, who took pride in himself because of a Field Medals award which granted him public status, comes around to try to build a friendship with Will. Will soon realizes that Gerald is using him to gain social status, public recognition and to solve his difficult math problems. He then ends his relationship with Gerald because of his intensions. Then Sean, seeing what his former classmate, Gerald, was up to, soon becomes more than just Willââ¬â¢s therapist. Sean becomes a friend and tries to prevent Will from taking the same path as Gerald by only wanting social recognition. As Willââ¬â¢s Friend, Sean didnââ¬â¢t want him to fail. He wanted Will to succeed in life and take a chance and not just live it through a book. The doctor-patient relationship soon becomes a very close friendship. Towards the end of the movie Will leaves a note for Sean, ââ¬Å"I had to see about a girl,â⬠this was a quote from Seanââ¬â¢s story of his courtship with his wife. This lets Sean know he had decided to take a chance on life and to attempt to form a lasting relationship with someone he could trust. Willââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"brotherâ⬠Chuckie, who is really Willââ¬â¢s best friend, also wanted him to succeed in life. He tries to encourage Will to take a chance in living a real life and tells Will, ââ¬Å"You know what the best part of my day is? Itââ¬â¢s for about ten seconds when I pull up to the curb to when I get to your door. Because I think maybe Iââ¬â¢ll get up there and Iââ¬â¢ll knock on the door and you wonââ¬â¢t be there. No goodbye, no see you later, no nothing. Just left. I donââ¬â¢t know much, but I know that.â⬠Will then sees that Chuckie might have a point and takes his friendââ¬â¢s advice. A few people come into Willââ¬â¢s life, some for real friendships and some just to gain public status. After discovering his true friendships, Will begins to enjoy their company and wants them in his life. He begins to build relationships he can count on. He is willing to take a chance and succeed in life and relationships, no longer needing books to fulfill this for him. He finally decides to trust and to look at the positive things life has to offer. On his 21st birthday, with the car, Chuckie and his other friends gave him, he packs up to head to California to pursue life. In the end, Will finds true friendships and decides to live his life outside of just a book.
